A day on Ubuntu:
Summer school starts at 8:00am with an assembly by the primary school head teacher.
After that, SfM volunteers split into their various classrooms to teach English to the children of Chisitu Primary School. English is the second language for the children of Malawi so the opportunity to learn it from a local speaker is great.
After class, all children are provided with a hot lunch from SfM. This is fundamental in the Ubuntu project as it ensures children receive at least 1 meal that day.
After lunch, the team split across various sports, including football, netball, and rounders. This is a fun way to finish the day!
Our Volunteers say:
"The best part of the trip was our final day in the school where we had the 'carnival'. This was amazing to see the children in awe experiencing different activities, such as face-painting, that we take for granted"
"Couldn't have asked for a better bunch of people to share the experience with"
"The trip as a whole far exceeded my expectations in every way"
28th May - 22nd June 2018
6th August - 31st August 2018
We ask that our volunteers fundraise or make a donation of £650 to go towards the cost of running the summer school.
This money is also used to take care of you when you're in Malawi, providing you with accommodation, water and meals Monday - Friday, in-country transport and the support of our team!
*Please note flights are not included in the donation*
